Answer: Hi,

Thanks for in touch. I’m sorry to hear your 14 year old is from acne.

There are several causes of acne. In younger people often hormones cause an over of oil/sebum in the skin, which blocks pores and leads to a build up of skin cells and bacteria resulting in .

There are several clinic treatments that can help, from deep cleansing facials to LED light . At Dorset Aesthetics I offer Dermalux Tri-wave MD light therapy, which works really well to reduce bacteria and resulting in fewer breakouts.

The first and most step is a good home skincare regime. Cleansing the skin properly with the right can really make a big difference. Using hydroxyacids on the skin, like acid and glycolic acid, and will also really help.

Keeping the skin moisturised with a but non will prevent the outer layers of the skin from drying out. If this oil can get trapped, water evaporates more oil production, and bacteria can get in through tiny cracks in the skin, all the .

It’s important to get advice on the right skincare products and . I offer free and can do so via video call if you would like us to have a chat about skincare. Many products I are via Get Harley, a skincare concierge platform, which I can upload prescriptions to for patients to purchase whenever they need. So if you don’t live this is a great option.

Please feel free to click on my link and book in online for a free .

Many thanks,

Gilly

Answer: Hello,

Thank you for your email enquiry.

I would strongly recommend you book into the clinic for a skin consultation. This is when our highly and experienced nurse can get to know you better and discuss your concerns with you. As with all treatments, we work with the individual and create a plan for you.

A brief of some of the treatments we have on offer are as follows:

• Obagi products – these are products that are so effective in the treatment of acne. The two main products in the range are the Daily Care Foaming Cleanser and Pore each containing acid which pores and helps remove the bacteria which causes acne.

• Peels – there are several peels for acne skin types. During consultation you will be advised which is the best one for your particular skin .

• IPL/Laser Acne - The in the skin is successfully destroyed and the acne is leaving you with smooth, fresh, looking skin. The laser will at the same time collagen which will enable the skin to heal with less scarring.

• Laser & Scar Reduction – this is done with a SmartXide CO2 DOT Laser.

Medical Dermal Roller – this improves scar tissue and can also be done at home.

This is a very large and complex subject and affects people at different times in their lives. Acne cannot be "cured" but can be controlled. The and the scarring that often comes from uncontrolled acne breakouts can be minimised and reversed. Always that prevention is better than cure as acne scarring can rarely be completely eliminated.

Our skin consultation is £50, please let us know if you have any or would like to book your consultation.

Our opening hours are Monday to Saturday 9am – 6pm.
